勝道上人像

　勝道上人は栃木県芳賀に生まれ、幼い頃から朝な夕な、北関東にそびえる秀麗な日光連山に心魅かれて、前人未踏の日光連山を開いたといわれている。それから一二〇〇年余を経た今、輪王寺の本堂前に立つ上人の銅像は、日光連山を背に、その信篤く志の高かった姿そのままに夜明けの空を仰いでいる。

　The statue of Sho^do^Sho^nin(Priest Sho^do^),the founder of Nikko Sanctuary 1,200 years ago,was set up in commemoration of the municipalization of Nikko City on the 10th of February in 1954.
