野天護摩供
　除夜の鐘の初音が夜空に尾を引いて消えたあと、山伏による野天護摩供が輪王寺において行われる。
　日光の冬の寒さは格別だが、初詣の人々は、新しい年の息災を願って、この火のもとに集まる。
　鐘の音によって煩悩を追い払い、さらに火によって鎮める。無事を頼む素朴な心が、この古来からのならわしを支え続けてきた。

"Goma" Ceremony in the Open Air
After the temple bell rings out the previous year, "Goma (holy fire for invocation)" ceremony is held in the open air by the mountain ascetics at Rinno-ji Temple. Many people attend this ceremony hoping to be safe and sound in the new year.
